OIC - Stand for Kids Gala 2016

Each year the Orthopedic Institute for Children hosts an annual Stand For Kids Gala benefiting the foundation. In alliance with UCLA Health, the foundation's mission is to provide phenomenal care for children with musculoskeletal diseases, and to help advance research and care globally through education and scientific research.

The 2016 gala held on the 20th Century Fox Studios New York Street Set raised funds for the OIC's Ambulatory Surgery Center and featured a fun night of entertainment, fabulous food, and a silent and live auction. Award winning actress American Ferrera was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the exciting event which raised over 9 million dollars in donations.

Produced and designed by Cynthia Lopell and Jackson Lowell of CL22 Productions, the event exhibiting a colorful vintage resurgence with a turn of the century vibe. Retro yet hip in a New York urban style, boasting quintessential stencil pioneers that painted the industrial landscape with radical contemporary art - a cutting edge homage to Graffiti Artists.

Performers and live entertainment filled the streets of the iconic setting. CL22 Productions brought in RJ DiCamillo to transform the Fox Diner Set into Ozzie's Treats, named after the OIC's mascot. Gorgeous displays of sweet treats lined the counter tops accented by playful decor in a vibrant array of colors. Modern lounges hosted a smoky, gunmetal base with vibrant pops of color accenting the communal settings. These intimate surroundings wrapped themselves around coffee tables blazoned with transparencies of graffiti art featured by Risk, adding a level of sophistication in a comfortable unpretentious way. Simple, sturdy, approachable, but, distinctively fashionable with a grounded element of urban class to induct a sweet street creed for the graffiti culture.

New York City at it's finest!
