The Ravens

Once upon a night so dreary, while we pondered weak and weary, over many a great and curious sight that the stadium suddenly had no light!

While the team patiently stated, but greatly hated the minutes they had waited,

When suddenly there came a tapping, a rapping at the locker room door -

here we opened wide the door; but Darkness there and nothing more.

Deep into the darkness peering, long we stood there wondering, fearing,

Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token;

And the only word there spoken was the whispered words, "34 minutes and

not a minute more," this I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word,

"34 minutes," Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the stadium turning, all my soul within me burning, Soon again I

heard a tapping somewhat louder than before; Surely, surely there is

something way far back, but yet keeps coming; Let me see, then, what it is and

this mystery explore - Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery

explore; Tis the 49ers suddenly with so much more!

Down they were with points so low, now coming back to close the show.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy was not smiling,

By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,

Though thy lead be dwindled further then expected in the fervor of the

comeback 49ers, jumping up 17 more!

Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the stadium floor!

Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."

Startled at the stillness broken by the leap to the 7th yard token,

Now the 49ers to this point unbroken stand before the end zone score,

Hoping they clutch the winnings from the Ravens evermore!

Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster,

Followed fast as the two minute warning bore,

Over and over they charged the Ravens, to make a point of taking their

savings, from the Ravens forever more.

But Ray Lewis still beguiling all his fancy into smiling,

Straight he held them back from entering, the treasured space at the end to

open the door. Tried they did to break the barrier into that special area and

take the victory off the floor.

But the Ravens, sitting lonely on the placid field arbor, spoke only

That one word, as if their soul in that one word he did out pour.

Nothing farther then he uttered-not a feather then he fluttered-

Til I scarcely more than muttered "Other teams have tried before-

On the morrow they will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before."

Shrieked the Ravens, "Nevermore."

In the moments waning greatly, we the Ravens rose up and took the safety,

Preserving our fight to win the war, and captured the Victory forever more!

Now with the Victory we are sporting, came the Celebration we are courting.

As we entered the party cavorting,

Underneath, the Raven perched at the entrance door.

Once inside the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer, as our

hearts were filled with passion from the music wafting there.

We scanned the room with voyeur sight, to see all in-store for us tonight.

We will fulfill our every imagined delight, because we won the victory fight!

The glow from the room was streaming, like confetti falling from the ceiling,

in colors of the rainbow spilling onto each reverent therein chilling.

As we moved throughout the room, the opulent atmosphere embraced each

tomb, to complete the radiance of the ballroom.

Floating above each cozy lounge were gold gilded chandeliers suspended

down, sparkling like a grandiose crown.

Modern Gothic furnishings scattered about representing a lavish style about

town.

Velvet furnishings plush and deep encompass each winner's lavish feat.

Flacco sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing to the fowl whose

fiery eyes now burning into my bosom's core; this and more he sat divining,

with his head at ease reclining. On the cushion's velvet lining with the lamp-

light gloating o'er, taking in the glory of our winning forever more.

Framed by four tall columns high, rising phallic to the sky, finials adorning

each impressive tower, as mixologists conjured up the liquid power,

To soothe the soul of each player brought on by.

The impressive rhinestone studded bar, topped with red glistening glass

avatar, puts a spell on who partakes of the tactile pleasures in its stakes.

Sumptuous buffets draped in sequined raw silk and mounded with morsels of

a tasty ilk, a feast of delight for palate and souls, to usher in the experience of

the staged show. Mary J Blige and Ray Lewis squirrel danced to the R&B beats

and the crowd was mesmerized in a dreamlike glow.

As the celebration comes to an end the Lombardi Trophy will still stand,

raised up high to show the spoil of the Super Bowl Victory from hard toil.

And the Ravens, never flitting, still are sitting on the pallid bust of Super Bowl

fame and shall go into eternity as the hero's of the winning game!
